College Of Nyíregyháza

The College of Nyíregyháza came into being in 2000 as a result of the integration of György Bessenyei Teachers Training College (1962) and the Nyíregyháza Agricultural College Faculty of the Agricultural University of Gödöllő (1961). The college with its five faculties has developed into an institution meeting the requirements and expectations of the 21st century. In the past few years the college has undergone spectacular academic and infrastructural development that has made the name of the institution well-known all over the country. The five faculties do research and train students in arts, education, social studies, economics, fine arts, technology, agriculture and science. The number of undergraduate courses is 33, with 60 specializations within that, there is post-graduate training in a total of 9 teaching subjects, 1 specialized subject, there are 22 further training courses and 20 post-secondary training courses.

Those who visit the College of Nyíregyháza will, upon entering the campus, experience the aesthetics, the harmony and power of the environment, dedicated to the future of education. The power is a reflection of the determination of the students and staff to create new value, to prepare for the future. The power has been the driving force behind the creation of one of the most advanced campuses of Europe, the power relayed knowledge, expertise and culture, language skills, moral and professional endurance to thousands of students who begin their career in the European labour market, in the community of Europe’s cultured nations.

The campus concentrates educational and auxiliary facilities in an area of nearly seventy thousand square meters. But the campus does not merely serve education–this is also a regional centre of science, of national and international higher education and, last not least, of economy. The professional competence of our staff, the 21st-century equipment and infrastructure of the college enable students to learn their chosen profession at the highest possible level. In addition to that, they are able to spend their free time in an environment of high quality–the college has pleasant leisure parks, comfortable dormitory rooms, a botanical garden, a well-stocked library, a college newspaper, a campus radio station, a theatrical studio, musical and literary circles, arts studios, scientific circles and a wide range of sports facilities. All the facilities within the campus are wheel-chair accessible, so our students with disabilities have equal opportunities in using all the services offered by the college.

The campus of the College Nyíregyháza entered the property development niveau award competition of FIABCI, and won the first prize, thus officially becoming the best public building in the world.

The College of Nyíregyháza has wide international relations with institutions of higher education in Europe, Asia and America. The college is a representative of regional and Hungarian culture and education in the world, and at the same time a representative of international culture in the heart of the Nyírség region. It is a primary mission of the college to reinforce cohesion of institutions of higher education along the eastern areas of the European Union: Slovakia, Romania and the Ukraine.

I welcome the reader at the College of Nyíregyháza.
