Biology BSc
The education of biology in the College of Nyíregyháza, which has decades of tradition, aims to train professionals who will be able to analyze the most important relations in biology and to acquire up-to-date knowledge in the fields of biology.  Graduates are familiar with the most important research methods related to their own scientific areas. Based on their laboratory and practical knowledge, they are able to design, evaluate and resolve biological functions, and have enough theoretical knowledge to continue their studies at  MSc level.
Since 2006, the requirements in  training biologists is determined by the conditions of the three-year BSc  training system nationwide. Therefore, the  BSc. training in biology is unified in all  higher education institutions, curricula having only about 10-15% deviation from each other at different institutions. Thus any BSc degree earned in any country is equivalent to each other and ensures equal opportunities to continue the studies at MSc. level. The quality of education may be different, being affected by the institution's infrastructure facilities, national and international relations, teaching staff, and the number of students per one instructor. The Institute of  Biology of the College of Nyíregyháza and the Agricultural and Molecular Biology Research Institute jointly participate in training future professionals.
From the year 2008 brand new educational facilities, research labs for students and teachers serve the realization of advanced training. So, not only at regional level, but nationwide it creates a unique opportunity for high-quality education on different areas of biology. The candidates of the Institute of Biology can learn from experienced, older teaching staff and well trained young teachers, who have outstanding skills, and are internationally experienced in many areas of biology.

Environmental studies BSc
The course aims  to train  environment researchers, who possess modern scientific approach, foreign language skills which is required to process technical literature, and keep international contact, and are capable of applying environmental science, acquire knowledge about mathematics, informatics, chemistry, physics, earth sciences and biology.
With the possession of a bachelor's degree, applied environmental researchers
• are able to do basic and practical research tasks related to environmental studies;
•  can obtain jobs at organizations dealing with environmental and nature conservation, research and development institutions, specialized administrative organizations;
• can solve tasks that need environmental science skills for environment and nature conservation industries, local governments and civil organizations and at fields of agriculture, forestry, water care and healthcare;
• teacher graduates cooperate in order to prepare and organize the training of environment and nature protection and  assist in the preparation of teaching materials.
They are able to perform daily tasks at laboratories making environmental regulatory inspections, examinations at academic and industrial research institutes, conservation, and to work in laboratories  dealing with environment, agro-chemistry , food, plant protection, quality assurance and medicine.
The other aim of the course is to prepare students to participate in master training, so they will be  able to apply to a second cycle training  to obtain a master a level degree in environmental science or to other related national and European master courses.
It is important for us to give a better opportunity for talented and interested students to acquire the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge for MSc and PhD training, through national and international partnerships as well. Our efforts in this respect have been supported effectively in the previous years as well (by many OTDK awards and special awards, shared PhD leadership.)
The nature monitoring specialization provides  opportunities for graduate students as well, to get involved operationally in nature-protection activities at local governments,  public organizations and NGOs, as well as in the preparation  and implementation of various projects. There is a great demand for graduate professionals with such knowledge.
Those who graduated in the specialization of technology, as technical assistant, will be professionally suitable for the following jobs: demonstrator at common technology lessons, educational technology assistant, domestic economy assistant, gardener and logistic worker.

Aims and expected results of the Teacher specialization
The graduates of the Teacher of Ecology  MSc course have a high level of basic knowledge in the adequate disciplines, widely utilize diverse skills, possess general knowledge and modern scientific approach, know at least one foreign language which is important to maintain  international contacts and to process technical sources, possess the basics of mathematics and informatics, as well as chemical, physical , earth and biological sciences. Therefore - based on the above - after Master training as an environment-X (where X: eg. Physics, chemistry, biology, geography, technology) double major teachers will be eligible and capable  to teach  environment sciences in different types of schools for 5th-12th grade students, and guide the forms of environmental education in classroom, and outside  school.
• The ecology teacher needs to have a complex perspective, upon natural, built and social environment, as well as local, regional, continental and global approach to environmental thinking.
• The ecology teacher has  the ability to see through a given  subject or issue with integrated, and inter-and transdisciplinary approach, has the ability to  transfer  thinking, possesses environmental culture, and the ability to be aware of the environmental elements and to categorize them, and also  to establish relationships between the elements.
• He/she has the capability of conscious and value-oriented thinking, has a conduct that is engaged with the future and feels  responsible for sustainable development; knows and applies interactive methods in education and teaching, is aware of   skill-developing methods of the sustainable education's pedagogy.
• He is able to show the right conduct and  good environmental awareness in his/her lifestyle for the teaching staff, and for his students; has the ability of preparing  environmental educational programs at schools and their implementation along with the teaching staff involved.
